Veteran forward Cristiano Ronaldo remains in a confused state at Manchester United after being punished after exiting their 2-0 win over Tottenham prematurely last week.

Ronaldo and United manager Erik ten Hag were set for talks before a decision was made on letting him return to first-team training and be allowed to play.

The 37-year-old Portugal international apologised for the incident on social media, but the situation appears delicate after an off-season where Ronaldo chased a move away from United.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is reportedly willing to let the striker leave in January, according to The Mirror.

The Dutchman has publicly said Ronaldo is wanted at Old Trafford, but is ready to allow him to move on should an appropriate suitor be found, amid fresh links with Chelsea via Sunday World.

Ronaldo had pushed for an off-season move to a Champions League club but was unable to find a home, while he rejected a lucrative offer from an unnamed Saudi Arabian club.

Football journalist Simon Phillips has reported that Manchester City are interested in striking a deal to sign Chelsea forward Kai Havertz, who has struggled to replicate his best form at Stamford Bridge.

RB Leipzig centre-back Josko Gvardiol would prefer a move to Chelsea over fellow suitors Tottenham, notably the defender was close to joining The Blues last summer before signing contract extension with the Bundesliga side.

Barcelona will pursue a move for Athletic Club centre-back Inigo Martinez in January. The Basque side want to see his €80m release clause but, with just over six months left on his contract, Barcelona are looking for a massive discount.

Having already attracted interest from Paris Saint-Germain, centre-back Pierre Kalulu of AC Milan is also on the radar of Real Madrid.

PSG are prepared to offer 36-year-old centre-back Sergio Ramos a new contract as a reward for his resurgence under Christophe Galtier.

In Germany, Bild has reported that Bayern Munich director Hasan Salihamidzic has described Harry Kane as ‘one of the best players in the world’ as the Bundesliga side continue to publicly flirt with the Tottenham and England striker.
