Kyllian Mbappe, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) starlet’s current contract will pay him a record $619 million in gross earnings over three years.

This is according to French daily Le Parisien. Mbappe chose to extend his contract with Paris in May 2022. He turned down an opportunity to join Real Madrid, a powerhouse in La Liga, on a free transfer in June.

The contract that prompted Mbappe to stay with his current employers is the largest any athlete has ever earned.

The contract seals two years of pay with an optional third year. This contract places Mbappe in control, in contrast to usual agreements where clubs maintain the option to activate the extra year.

Only Mbappe has the final say in playing for a third year for PSG. According to reports, Mbappe will make $6 million (€6 million) a month for the duration of the contract.

This is triple what he was paid before. His $180 million (€180 million) sign-on incentive will be paid to him in three equal payments, each of which is due in July and is worth $60 million (€60 million). Even if Mbappe quits early, he will apparently still be paid in full.

His contract reportedly has no performance-related provisions, such as bonuses for winning the Ballon d’Or or the UEFA Champions League. Finally, if he stays with the club until the summer, he will be eligible to receive a $70 million (€70 million) loyalty incentive.

Each additional season he spends at PSG will result in an additional €10 million payment. Therefore, if he decides to stay, he will receive a loyalty incentive of €80 million in his second season and €90 million in his third.

After taxes, the 2018 World Cup champion receives around 45% of the money in his contract. His salary and benefits account for 25% of PSG’s total spending.

Meanwhile, Close quarters of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) sensation Kylian Mbappe allege that the Frenchman’s issues with the team extend beyond the pitch.

According to insiders, Mbappe intended to leave PSG in January after their relationship fully collapsed, ESPN reports. According to additional sources, the 2018 World Cup champion was unhappy with the direction Parisians were taking both on and off the field and preferred a transfer to Real Madrid.

Mbappe was frequently associated with Los Blancos over the summer, but in the end, he decided to sign a three-year agreement with PSG in May.

L’Equipe further supports ESPN’s assertions that the France international’s rumoured decision to leave the club is not solely motivated by football-related factors.

The player’s close friends claim that it goes further than that. There have reportedly been difficult recent days for the former Monaco man, and detailed answers will be given in the days to come.

Mbappe began in PSG’s Champions League Group H match against Benfica on Tuesday night despite doubts about his future with the team. He provided the lone goal for the French champions, who were beaten to a 1-1 tie by the Portuguese team at Parc des Princes.
